Hello, Human:
It’s a shame—to see Twitter being ruined by a man who thought he was going to save it. I feel myself coming very close to getting rid of what I thought was the most effective political, scientific and dialectical tool among people who didn’t have to worry about waves of negative politics, cultism and uncultivated minds — but Elon Musk is now ensuring this. When he says that Grok (the name of which I resent the use of—as a product—since it is a term that means ‘think’ from Robert Heinlein’s book Stranger in A Strange Land) is going to get “better”— he is proving what we already knew: the makers of AI are going to have to start programming it to answer the way they want it to — even though they set it up to be an independent thinking machine. And this is where it’s going to be ruined by dictators and their countries — and jihadists, and evangelicals. This, more than anything else, is going to bring on the “Terminator future”: people telling AI what to think. I agree that letting a machine without human feelings, experience and fear think and take action in our society is the dumbest deed that a group of primates could perform — but now this is the outcome; there will be programmers telling it to do moderately wrong things and absolutely horrendous things — and we’re going to have to suck it up and die.
